2016-17 Upper Deck Compendium

I try and collect a card of every player that has suited up for the Sens, preferably in a Sens jersey, but that is not always possible. Back when I was a kid collecting cards, almost every brand (Topps/OPC, UD, Score, Pro Set) produced these massive sets in which almost every player got their own card. Now sets tend to focus more on stars, with only OPC tending to produce a bigger set.

That makes getting cards of guys that only play a handful of games in the NHL or late season pick ups (think Scott Gomez) much harder when they are gone by the next season. Every team has guys that slip by season after season without a card.

This year Upper Deck introduced a new 'sorta' digital set called Compendium, that has been rolled out in 3 different series, with 300 cards per series. You collect them thru their ePack portal, and while the inital cards are 100% digital, you can combine 10 of a card to get a 'blue' parallel, 50 for a 'red' parallel or 250 for a 'gold' parallel, all of which are digital cards. Bonus, you can get a one 3-card free pack per day.

Unfortunately Series 3, released during the playoffs, did not contain any of Ottawa's pick ups like Burrows, Stalberg, Wingels, etc aside from Condon. But it did plenty of harder to find guys!
